Bogus Va. State Police Twitter account suspended

At Senate hearing, public safety communications in wake of 9/11 attacks discussed

Police and fire departments across the country are better coordinated when disaster strikes across municipal lines but serious gaps remain in public safety communications, according to remarks at a Senate hearing Wednesday on the state of emergency communications 10 years after the 9/11 attacks.

Court systems use video to streamline pretrial hearings

There has been a surge in court appearances done by video in New York and around the country, as cash-strapped communities look for ways to boost efficiency and cut costs. The tools are used in courts large and small, and the savings for some are staggering: $30 million in Pennsylvania so far, $600,000 in Georgia, and $50,000 per year in transportation costs in Ohio.

Alexandria testing digital 911 system
