Lee Hockstader has been a member of The Post’s editorial board since 2004. He writes on a variety of topics, including politics, state and local affairs in Virginia and Maryland, immigration, and foreign affairs. He also writes occasional op-ed columns. Before joining the editorial board, he spent 20 years as a Post reporter, including 13 years as a foreign correspondent based in Jerusalem, Rome, Moscow and Central America, and two years as a national correspondent based in Texas. Born in New York, Hockstader attended Brown University and was a Henry Luce Scholar in Southeast Asia. He also studied on fellowships at Harvard and Stanford universities. He lives in Washington with his wife and two children.
