The other March Madness is underway as high school seniors learn whether they have been rejected or accepted to their schools, as a report suggests the craziness may be easing in this decade.

What is Florida Gulf Coast University?

A few weeks ago, not many people outside South Florida had heard of Florida Gulf Coast University. Now, thanks to March Madness, it's the new "it" school, at least for the moment.

Arne Duncan: Fine coaches when athletes don't graduate

With March Madness in full gear, Education Secretary Arne Duncan is proposing that colleges and universities start penalizing coaches financially if the athletes on their teams don't graduate.

March Madness: What's the academic effect?

A nationwide independent poll funded and conducted by me strongly suggests that during the three-week NCAA championship tournament, many classes will be cancelled, the minds of many students will wander and very little in the way of academics will get done at dozens of schools across the country over the next few weeks.
