Few American college students left in Egypt; Georgetown students share their experiences

Since Monday, hundreds of American college students have fled Egypt, many on flights chartered by the U.S. State Department that dropped them off in Turkey, Greece or Cyprus. From there, students were on their own to find a way home to the states or to another study abroad program. Some of those students are waiting to see if they can go back to Egypt.

College smoking policies vary

Towson University is entering its second semester of having a strict, campus-wide smoking ban. At the request of a few readers, I am compiling a list of campus smoking policies.

Universities send holiday videos instead of cards

For Holiday Season 2010, stamps and snail mail are totally out. All the rage: Holiday videos. Officials say videos are greener, cheaper and hipper than old-school cards. Plus, colleges can sneak in tons of info about campus and then send it to thousands.

AU student newspaper switches to weekly tab

Financial difficulties have pushed the American University student newspaper, The Eagle, to publish just one day a week instead of two this school year.

Gambling on grades: Think you are smart? Wanna bet on it?

A new website allows college students to place wagers on their grades. Bets start at $25 -- the student puts up some of the money, the company puts up the rest (more for super high grades, less for easy-to-get grades).
