A “once-in-a-lifetime” sky: sundog in a distrail

A few miles above me, an airplane sliced a thin deck of altocumulus clouds nearly in half with a distrail that featured a sun dog square in the middle of it.

Like flying saucers, lenticular clouds hover over Charlottesville, Va. this morning

No, they weren’t UFOs floating over the central Virginia skies, but super rare lenticular clouds - more common in the mountain West.
