Hundreds attend William Lockridge funeral

Mayor Vincent C. Gray, council members, school board members and community leaders gathered at Temple of Praise Church in Southeast on Thursday to attend the funeral of William Lockridge, a longtime community and education activist.

Mayor stops just short of endorsing Sekou Biddle

Mayor Vincent C. Gray said in an interview Thursday that he is supporting Council Chairman Kwame R. Brown's efforts, including his endorsement of state Board of Education member Sekou Biddle for his vacated at-large seat.

Tickets to inaugural ball sold out

As of 11:05 a.m. Wednesday, the ticket giveaway to the free Sunday night celebration -- featuring go-go godfather Chuck Brown and other local artists - was shut down at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Gray out raises Fenty in last 3 mos.

Vincent C. Gray out raised Mayor Adrian M. Fenty during the past three months, but Fenty mayor begins the summer campaign season with nearly ten times as much cash in the bank as the council chairman, according to campaign finance reports released Friday.
