Fairfax Parkway extension opening

The Virginia Department of Transportation plans to open the northbound lanes of the two-mile Fairfax County Parkway extension on Friday evening. In preparation, VDOT is making some traffic adjustments.

Bridge closings begin Wednesday

Travelers will continue to enjoy great weather tonight and tomorrow, till a cold front brings the possibility of rain Thursday evening. The Wilson Bridge is scheduled to open tonight, then again Saturday morning. Managers of the bridge reconstruction program also have announced some major changes coming at the Capital Beltway's Telegraph Road interchange.

Headaches on the horizon

Work is underway to relocate a sewer line along this important connector road in Tysons Corner, and it's closing off two lanes on the east side on Jones Branch Drive from just after the Westpark Drive intersection to the southern entrance to the Gannett building. Traffic is shifting to the west side, with one lane open in each direction. The traffic shift allows construction workers on HOT lanes project to replace an 850-foot section of sewer pipe containing asbestos.

Headaches on the horizon

Delays are likely on I-95 south just past Lorton between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights while crews replace two overhead sign structures. The Virginia Department of Transportation plans to close the HOV lanes at 9 p.m. and two regular southbound lanes at 10:30 p.m. each night. A single southbound lane will remain open.
