New York Avenue shrinking in April

Commuters will start to experience the biggest impact of the New York Avenue Bridge reconstruction in late April. At that point, the lane capacity between Penn Street NE and Florida Avenue NE — an area traversed by thousands of drivers during the morning and afternoon rushes — will be reduced by a third to make more room for the rebuilding over the next two years.

New pattern on New York Ave.

The District's plan to rebuild the New York Avenue Bridge was a long time in the making, but project managers say it's ready to go now, which means a very long period of disruption for commuters.

New detour at Ninth Street Bridge

The District Department of Transportation plans to close the ramp to the Ninth Street Bridge from westbound New York Avenue NE on Monday. The old bridge is going to be demolished, before construction of a new ramp.

Lane closings set on NY Ave.

Some new lane closings are about to start between Florida Avenue and Penn Street NE as part of the District's reconstruction of the New York Avenue Bridge. Here's the schedule from the District Department of Transportation.

D.C. delays N.Y. Ave. traffic shift

The District Department of Transportation has decided to delay the change in the traffic pattern at New York and Florida avenues NE until June 11. The department had planned to make the change this Friday night, but announced Thursday that it needs to complete adjustments to the traffic signal timings and make some other technical adjustments.
