Unbeaten Packers, winless Colts prove NFL parity is dead

The Packers are rolling toward a perfect season and the Colts could go winless — simultaneous developments that would have former NFL commissioner and champion of parity Pete Rozelle rolling over in his grave.

Re-tread NFL coaches are losing out to young coordinators in head coaching carousel

It’s great news for all of the hard working offensive and defensive coordinators out there, but not so good for head coaches who get their pink slips. Unless of course they want to work in Bristol, CT.

Tim Tebow continues to defy doubters, like previous “unconventional” QBs before him

Tim Tebow is knocked for being an option or gimmick offense QB and we’re being told he will never make the transition because that’s just who he is. But Doug Williams was told the same thing, and ended up winning a Super Bowl.

NFL teams still relying on rushing attacks despite early aerial assault

In the year of the quarterback, some NFL teams are doing it the old fashioned way, with productive run games led by elite running backs.

NFL London: Sluggish ticket sales may hurt league’s plans to move franchise to England

Two years ago when Tampa Bay played New England in London, the game sold out in eight minutes flat. Now the NFL can’t sell out the game with 72 hours left until kickoff? What gives?

Elite NFL quarterbacks are all the rage — and they’re everywhere this year

Not even in the pass-happy 1980’s was there this much saturation of top-flight passers in the NFL, resulting in an offensive explosion early on this season.

NFL Week 2 presents an opportunity for disoriented teams to get back on track

Teams that rested their starters in the preseason — like the Falcons, Buccaneers and Chiefs — took it on the chin in Week 1, making this week’s games doubly-important for teams expected to compete for the playoffs who vastly under-achieved in their season openers.

New NFL kickoff rule is the talk of the preseason

Despite the new kickoff rule, during the preseason, the NFL should allow teams to kickoff from the 30-yard line to see how their kickoff coverage team stacks up.

Move over NFC East, South gonna rise again!

Perhaps the true test of its power was in 2008 when all four of its teams were 8-8 or better. The four teams amassed a 27-5 home record which is the best combined home winning percentage (.844) in NFL history.

Checking sources in the NFL’s Twitter frenzy

The reporter planted false information, and the bait was taken. The blogger posted the info as fact, failing to check the facts. To make matters worse, other people took that information and ran with it, too. None of them bothered to check their facts.

Expect a different type of NFL preseason this summer

With coaches not having any needed time to work with new players, or older players not having time to work with their new coaches, something is going to have to give, and that could result in more emphasis being placed on the preseason.

Right of first refusal is worse than the franchise tag

Right of first refusal may be acceptable if the owners agree to only having one, but the whole concept goes against the very nature of what the players won back in the 1990s by striking and suing the NFL in the first place.

NFL’s exploding popularity of “all the other stuff” will save 2011 season

The NFL’s current level of offseason popularity should be enough to prevent the actual game cancellations that took place in the 1980s. Losing this offseason should be enough to get the two sides to come to terms so games in September don’t get lost.
