Yo, Tony! I'm Talkin' About You!

A week ago in this space, The Post's Paul Farhi wrote a negative review of his colleague Tony Kornheiser's debut on "Monday Night Football." Kornheiser responded by calling Farhi "a two-bit weasel slug," whom he would "gladly run over with a Mack truck." This reaction catapulted Farhi to national...

Gene, It must be a slow news day, because this article is ridiculous. No one could possibly be as ignorant as you seem to want to portray. The fact that you received some sort of salary or pay for this has my temperature at 5000 degrees....not 90, 5000

This article makes no sense. Is it complete sarcasm or does Gene not understand sarcasm? Do you really think Tony thought it was actually 5000 degrees? Do you really think Tony thought Bledsoe was ordering a pizza? Tony clearly has room to improve in his performance, but hes not an idiot. Please tell me this article is completely sarcastic! Otherwise, Gene needs to be fired. This article isnt even a review of Tony on MNF. Its just nonsense.

Yep, journalists egos are off the scale, as they apparently now have nothing better to do than write about each other. Dear Journalists, Your value is in the text you produce. You are not celebrities, nor in the least bit admirable or interesting. We do not care about you, your personalities, your families, your colleagues, or what you look like. You are recorders-reporters, only slightly better than stenographers. I would find it equally preposterous if suddenly camera operators started filming inside jokes about each other. WE DONT CARE. I would prefer if this paper eliminated all bylines. Maybe that would help quash the epidemic of overinflated self-importance.

I thought Farhis review was right on. Kornheiser is completely inept - he makes Dennis Miller look like Bob Costas. Im already planning to watch every Monday night game on mute this year, because between him and Theismann, theres no hope for a decent broadcast. I feel bad fof Tirico, who I think is a solid guy and I really enjoy his announcing of games - to have to put up with the drivel from those two must be painful for him.

Gene---your an idiot. Give Tony a break, it is still his preseason too. He is just getting used to his new medium, and unlike your career in journalism, I am certain that he will excel.

While we are engaging in free speech, freedom of the press or whatever that commentary was supposed to be, it was a sorry excuse for something worthy of publication.

The more Gene talks, the more I like Tony. What an idiot. Ill take Kornheisers commmentary over this fools writing any day. Lets start the how long before Gene is writing for the Flyer pool. I take 8/30/06.

I cant tell if youre an idiot or sacarstic. Either way, you dont get it. I realize Tony has some work to do, but do you REALLY think he was being serious about the 5,000 degrees or fifth quarter remarks? Thats Tonys personality. He exaggerates for comic effect. Its one thing if you dont find it funny its quite another if you think hes being serious. OK, Ive decided. Youre an idiot.

Weingarten, Youre a moron. Tony says this stuff i.e. maybe hes calling for a pizza, or fifth quarter to be sarcastic. Its sarcasm, something which I thought you knew based upon your little blogs in the Sunday Post. Try not taking everything so literally, and learn to enjoy yourself. And oh by the way, I see no reason for insulting the guys bald head. Whats the point of that. If that is some inside joke you guys have, then its probably not relevant in this column as nobody knows that.

Wow, some of these comments are SO IRONIC it kills me. Criticizing Weingarten for not getting Tonys sarcasm when in fact, it was the reader who didnt understand Weingartens sarcasm. A great column by a funny guy.

This is all a set up, right? No one could have possibly thought Weingarterns column was serious? All of these comments were put in by Weingarten as a continuation of the joke, right? Tell me thats true -- the alternative is too depressing.

Another guy no one has heard of, so he has to try and weasel himself in on Tonys coattail

Why all the hate? Give Kornheiser a break. Hes only two meaningless pre-season games into his MNF career. Talk about Post-on-Post crime!

Gene, the Boodle thinks youre funny. Especially the parts where youre making fun of Tonys head. I personally thought the pizza line was good.
