National airspace reopened on Thursday, but only a limited number of flights are operating on Friday. Federal aviation officials cautioned travelers to expect slower operations and tight security. Foreign airlines that meet new FAA security standards, and which fly from foreign airports that meet those standards, will be allowed to fly to the United States today.

Senior federal officials said Washington's Reagan National Airport will remain closed indefinitely because of its proximity to the White House and other government buildings.
