Correction to This Article
A Sept. 26 article about NATO's plans to admit new members should not have characterized Slovenia as a former Soviet satellite. During the Cold War, Slovenia was part of Communist Yugoslavia, a country that successfully resisted domination from Moscow. In addition, the article incorrectly reported that the three Baltic states, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, have sent troops to Kyrgyzstan to help guard an airbase that is used in the Afghanistan campaign. The Baltic countries offered troops, but Kyrgyzstan did not take up the offer.
