After failing to find sandbags at Home Depot and Ace Hardware, Kristin Ryce, had to bag her own to bring back to her home on Nags Head on Friday, August 26, 2011 in preparation for Hurricane Irene. Ryce's husband is owner of the Yellow Submarine restaurant and they're waiting the hurricane out. Here employee Alejandro Sanchez moves one with a hole in it to his ground floor apartment he rents from them. Restaurants and grocery stores aren't allowed to use plastic bags anymore on Nags Head and so she had plenty to use. 'I'm happy to be putting them to good use,' she said.
