An insider’s tour of the course

According to race director Mike Spinnler, no one knows the JFK 50 Mile course better than Kimball Byron, 57, a USAirways pilot from Owings Mills who first finished the race in 1968 at age 12 and plans to do it for the 44th time Nov. 17. "I always go back, because it's like a salmon going home to spawn," Byron said. "It's not that I'm good at it, but I know it and I love it." Byron’s take on the historic route:
