NBA Lockout: Is Ted Leonsis taking a hard-line stance in labor negotiations?

Ever since Ted Leonsis bought the Wizards, he’s enjoyed a bit of a honeymoon period from most Wizards fans. But now his experience in the NHL is impacting his stance in the NBA labor negotiations.

D.C. United at Philadelphia match diary & player ratings

Remember in youth soccer when you would have a weekend tournament where you played five or six games in a weekend? That’s basically what United are doing right now.

D.C. United at Philadelphia match preview

Of course, I didn’t need to see Saturday’s match to know this: De Ro was awesome. As he has been pretty much every minute since he pulled on a United shirt. If this team makes it to the playoffs, it’ll be because De Rosario dragged them there.

DeAngelo Hall is exactly the type of player the Redskins want

Make no mistake about it, DeAngelo Hall is who he says he is and then some — and the Redskins are glad to have him.

Why I’m a Washington Capitals fan

In the interest of getting back to what it means to be a “fan blogger,” I want to celebrate the beginning of Caps season by remembering why I’m a fan of this team.

Washington Capitals are twirling, twirling toward freedom

You could make a good case that everything was set up last year for the Washington Capitals to win the Stanley Cup, and somehow they still came up short. Will this finally be the year they get the job done?

Redskins-Cowboys: The good, the bad and the ugly

Here’s a quick and dirty look at the positives, negatives and vomit-inducing from the Redskins’ Monday night defeat in Dallas.

D.C. United vs. Chivas USA match diary and player ratings

Losing Chris Pontius hurts a lot because United were a marginal playoff team to begin with. If they were a Supporter’s Shield contender, it wouldn’t matter so much. It’s like if you’re super good-looking, you can afford a few mistakes.

Redskins vs. Cowboys: The stars are out in Dallas

Under the lights and in front of an international audience, one of the all-time great rivalries in all of sports kicks off when the Redskins visit the Cowboys on Monday night.

Dear Redskins, please hit Tony Romo in the ribs

DeAngelo Hall stirred up a bit of trouble by saying that he’ll try to hit Tony Romo in the ribs. But what player wouldn’t target an opponent’s weak spot?

Too-early record projection for 2012 Nationals

For teams already out of the playoff race, unfounded optimism about a team’s chances of making next year’s playoffs starts right about now and grows until the last week in spring training. So how about those red-hot Nats?

Crabcakes and hockey

The Caps preseason slush-fest in Baltimore may have been a disaster, but at least hockey is back.

D.C. United at Seattle match diary & player ratings

Chris Pontius is out for the season after breaking his tibia against Chivas last week. So, for the first time in a league match this year, we saw how this team played without Pontius. To be perfectly honest: I was not optimistic.

Redskins are winning despite red zone woes

It’s difficult to get down on a team after winning, but the Redskins need to start turning yards on the field into points on the board or this may be the only time this year they sit alone on top of the NFC East.

Redskins vs. Cardinals: Week 2 preview

After a stellar Week 1 performance against the Giants, the Redskins must prove they can bet the team’s they’re supposed to beat when they face Kevin Kolb, Larry Fitzgerald and their old NFC East rivals, the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

D.C. United at Chivas USA match diary and player ratings

How will United react to such a long layoff? I have no idea. It’s the old “rest versus rust” argument, which is as unsettled of an argument as “Elvis vs. The Beatles” or “Adam Sandler movie” vs. “stare at the back of an airplane seat for two hours.”

Washington Redskins provide cause for rational exuberance

Last week, I wrote that there was reason for some amount of optimism for the Redskins. After Sunday’s win over the Giants, it looks like I might have been right.

Whether or not Washington is able to end its streak of ignominy against the Giants, there are a number of things Redskins fans should be looking for when their new-look team takes the field in Week 1.

Not ready for Livan Hernandez to leave the Nats

Livan Hernandez has proven with his play this season that he deserves a chance to play somewhere next year. As a fan, I hope it’s in Washington.

Maryland Football: Uniformity of purpose

I like the uniforms Maryland wore last night. While I have some reservations about using the flag of my beloved state as such a blatant marketing tool, I think Under Armour did a pretty good job of making it, well, classy.

USA vs. Costa Rica match preview

The last U.S. match against Costa Rica — at RFK in 2009 — was an unmitigated disaster. Here’s hoping Jurgen Klinsman’s first meeting with the Ticos goes better.
