The news isn’t that Wolf Trap offers middlebrow programming; the news is that the definition of “middlebrow” has changed since it opened 40 years ago. In 1971, you had dozens of classical stars with enough box-office clout to sell out a concert. Today, there are five. No wonder Wolf Trap offers more “Video Games Live” and less Tchaikovsky.
