Metro to unveil new and rehabbed escalators

Metro is showing off eight new and refurbished escalators Wednesday. General Manager Richard Sarles plans to commemorate the official opening of seven escalators that have been rehabilitated at Union Station. Sarles will also mark official opening of the third new escalator at Foggy Bottom station.

CSX train derails in Hyattsville

A CSX freight train derailed around 2:42 p.m. in the 2900 block of 52nd Avenue in an industrial park in Hyattsville, according to Prince George’s authorities. No injuries were reported.

Roads reopen after Mass. Avenue gas leak

Several streets were closed, buildings evacuated and buses rerouted following the gas leak at 2121 Massachusetts Avenue. However, the air quality has improved, and the buildings have been cleared, according to authorities.
