U.S. 50 east reopens in Maryland after accident

An accident on U.S. 50 east just past the exit for Cape St. Claire Road in Anne Arundel County caused serious delays for much of Friday afternoon. All lanes were closed, but traffic now gets by.

ART route will change in the new year

The new year will bring with it route and schedule changes for one Arlington Transit route. ART Route 62 will still serve the Courthouse, Clarendon and Ballston Metro stops, but several stops are being eliminated.

Police identify drivers in fatal Rockville Pike accident

Rockville Pike was closed Wednesday evening in both directions in a several-block area near Cedar Lane due to an accident involving a pickup truck and a Metrobus. The driver of the pickup truck, a Silver Spring man, died in the accident.

Metro still investigating why part of brake assembly fell off train

Metro has completed a visual inspection of the brake assemblies on its 5000 series rail cars following an incident earlier this month in which a part fell off a train, damaged two other trains and shut down a portion of the Blue and Orange lines for hours, according to chief spokesman Dan Stessel.

NORAD plans calibration flights on Thursday afternoon

Water main repairs cause traffic issues

D.C. Water reports that L Street NW between 25th and 24th streets and 24th Street between K and M streets are closed due to water main repairs. D.C. receives grant to study Potomac rail bridge

The District of Columbia received a $2.9 million federal grant Monday to study rehabbing or replacing the Long Railroad Bridge over the Potomac River. The work is part of a plan to create a Southeast High-Speed Rail Corridor linking Atlanta and Charlotte with Washington.

D.C. Water reports that the 1000 and 1100 block sof 24th Street NW and the 2300 block of L Street NW awill be closed four to six hours for water service repairs.

October snow causes flight delays

The federal Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported that airlines recorded seven domestic flight tarmac delays of more than three hours and 11 international flight delays of more than four hours during October. The tarmac delays all occurred on Oct. 29 and involved flights bound for John F. Kennedy International or Newark Liberty airports, according to DOT, which said it is investigating.
