Obama related to country’s first slave

Ancestry.com has released a study that concludes that President Obama, through his white mother, is related to John Punch, the first African person in this country to be enslaved for life.

Antietam commemoration plans to be announced

National battlefield parks in Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia will participate in a series of events beginning July 13, leading up to the 150th anniversary date of Antietam on Sept. 17.
