With Washington Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond struggling to produce in the leadoff spot, manager Jim Riggleman shook up the lineup on Friday, moving second baseman Danny Espinosa into the top spot and shifting Desmond down to seventh.
With former leadoff man Nyjer Morgan set to make his return to Washington on Friday at Nationals Park, Danny Espinosa will step into the leadoff spot for the first time all season while Ian Desmond, hitting just .180, drops to seventh in the lineup. It is the first time that Desmond has started and not hit leadoff.
