After two years of austerity, it’s time to party again

We plan to host a post-holiday party in January 2012 for the first time in four years. Although our profit margins are still off from their 2007 levels, it’s time to celebrate our survival.

Though scaled-back, holiday celebrations are on the upswing

In general, manufacturing firms have increased their holiday party budgets, while service-based organizations have decreased theirs. Still, the red hot party dates this winter are December 14th through 18th and December 21st.

Friendliest states for entrepreneurship

The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council, a nonpartisan business advocacy group, ranked states in terms of how “friendly” their policies are to business interests. Factors included in the index are taxes, regulatory costs, government spending, property rights, health care policies and energy costs. Overall, the group applauds low taxes and limited government spending.
