Elite NFL quarterbacks are all the rage — and they’re everywhere this year

In the NFL, hindsight makes all coaches’ calls look like no-brainers

Sometimes bad NFL plays result from calls based on sound concepts, such as Jim Haslett’s third-and-21 blitz.

The best Michael Vick move of all-time

Redskins to target Tony Romo’s bruised, battered quarterback ribs

All is fair when gimpy quarterbacks set foot on a football field. The Redskins have made their intentions clear that they’re going after Tony Romo’s injured ribs, and any fan who doesn’t understand that aim doesn’t understand football.

NFL should schedule division rivalries to start and end season

The NFL should open each season with division games in Weeks 1, 2 and 3, and close it with rematches in Weeks 15, 16 and 17. What better way to bookend the season and make every game matter for playoff contention in every division?

Color me proud

It was an act of sportsmanship that isn’t always evident in the NFL, where too often the focus is on the rowdy fans who brawl, throw beer, and shout obscenities. Students at Westfield High School in Indiana, want to send a message that the focus in sports should always be on sportsmanship.

Why ban HGH, when further study might show more positive than negative effects?

Before The NFL and the NFLPA agree to testing, there must be proof that there is an actual need to outlaw the use of HGH by the NFL Players.

NFL Week 2 presents an opportunity for disoriented teams to get back on track

Teams that rested their starters in the preseason — like the Falcons, Buccaneers and Chiefs — took it on the chin in Week 1, making this week’s games doubly-important for teams expected to compete for the playoffs who vastly under-achieved in their season openers.

Is it time for the Colts to put in Curtis Painter at quarterback?

Between Indiana University’s collapse against Virginia, Notre Dame’s collapse against Michigan and the debacle that was the Colts’ season opener, it was a rough weekend for football in the state of Indiana.

NFL Week 1: Traction vs. overreaction

It’s always fun to predict Super Bowl matchups and last-place finishers early in the NFL season, and after Week 1, there are plenty of conclusions that can be drawn around the league. But which will hold weight and which are merely one-week aberrations?

Has the window closed for the Pittsburgh Steelers?

No loss was more surprising last Sunday than the blowout victory by the Ravens over the Steelers. Was that a sign that Pittsburgh’s time at the top of the AFC is over?

Could Peyton Manning’s injury land the Colts atop the Andrew Luck sweepstakes?

If the Colts wind up with a top pick in the 2012 NFL draft due to Peyton Manning’s neck injury, could they wind up with Stanford’s Andrew Luck? Hey, it worked for David Robinson, Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs.
