Alexandria tax bills to increase in fiscal 2012

The average residential property tax bill will increase by $107 to about $4,500 thanks to a higher tax rate passed by the Alexandria City Council at a special meeting Monday night. The new 99.8-cent tax rate was passed to replace a controversial transportation tax on commercial properties.
