In my house we believe in fighting the commercialization of Christmas by buying up all the things that are on sale so as to keep them out of general circulation. There are roughly 137 presents under the tree by eyeball estimate. (That’s actually my tree in the photo at left. We needed a big tree to provide a canopy for all the gifts.)
Just opening the presents will surely take us into Boxing Day. The key goal here is to make sure that everyone feels adequately gifted. If the raw number of presents per person isn’t the same, the collective value of the presents has to be the same, which is why we have an accountant on hand, fingers flying to calculate market values of the presents as they come out of the boxes.
Dad is hoping he gets a tie. Dad actually needs a tie. Dad doesn’t wear a tie very often but he would start doing so if he got a tie from one of the progeny. (Will give full report later…)
