What’s the real Ward 9?

Council member Marion Barry (D-Ward 8) says Prince George’s County may as well be called D.C. Ward 9, because so many thousands of former District residents have moved there in recent years.

That’s an interesting claim, but it’s also potentially applicable to more places than just Prince George’s. Arlington is an obvious contender, since it’s dense and urban like D.C., and since it used to be part of the District. Maybe arguments could also be made for Montgomery County, or Baltimore, or even Denver, Colo. (which has the most federal offices outside the D.C. area). Prince George’s is a likely candidate, but certainly not the only one.

What do you think?
