Farmers market roundup: July 5-11

Now’s the time of year when you shouldn’t have any problem eating your recommended daily servings of vegetables and fruit. Area markets are awash in beautiful produce.

This week, plums are almost everywhere. You’ll be able to pick them up at today’s Ballston FreshFarm Market and FreshFarm Market by the White House; at Saturday’s 14th & U Farmers Market, Columbia Heights Community Marketplace and H Street NE FreshFarm Market; at Sunday’s Bloomingdale Farmers Market and Takoma Park Farmers Market; and at Wednesday’s Foggy Bottom FreshFarm Market.

The Ward 8 Farmers’ Market opens a second location Saturday at St. Elizabeth’s East. The market, which runs through Oct. 27; hours are10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the chapel gate. For more information on this and other markets, click on the map below.
