Key Ingredient: Diwali

Today marks the start of the festival of Diwali, which will be celebrated by Hindus and also some Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains. Festivities in honor of the Hindu New Year and the return of the Lord Rama from banishment traditionally include lights, visiting friends and family and the sharing of sweets.

Since we happen to specialize in the sweets category, check out these suggestions from our Recipe Finder:

Carrot Halwa, a sweet pudding that can be served warm or cold.

International Rice Pudding, combining elements of Indian, Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine.

Khubani Ka Meetha, a compote of dried apricots you might be tempted to put over ice cream.

Mango Ice Cream With Cardamom, which won’t require you to pull out your ice cream machine.
