Key Ingredient: Texas vs. St. Louis

The World Series starts this Wednesday night, with the Texas Rangers taking on the St. Louis Cardinals. But you don’t have to be a baseball fan to appreciate what these two teams bring to the plate. Here, from our Recipe Finder, are some dishes inspired by the places they call home (whether you view the number of recipes from each as a prediction of who will win is entirely up to you):

Blackened Salsa, similar to the version served at La Fogata restaurant in San Antonio.

Coffee BBQ-Sauced St. Louis-Style Ribs (Juana Arias for The Washington Post)

Texas Chicken-Fried Steak and Gravy, which uses, yes, Bisquick to help fry the meat.

Texas Sheet Cake, a dessert big enough to make the Lone Star State proud.

What will you be serving at your World Series viewing party?
