Is there a better way to celebrate the 237th birthday of the United States Army than firing off a tank made of 5,000 cupcakes? If so, we haven’t thought of it.
The ladies of Georgetown Cupcake, co-owners Sophie LaMontagne and Katherine Kallinis, stepped up their show of gratitude for the Army on its birthday this year. (In the past, they’ve sent cupcakes to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, Wired.com reports).
The pink-aproned women used camouflage fondant-covered confections to coat a model of an M1 Abrams tank for Thursday’s event.
And the icing on this celebration: The ersatz fighting vehicle was rigged with a small cannon that was powered by an air compressor, able to shoot cupcakes several feet in the air.
