The broadcast media, journalism and cookbook medals were passed out Friday night -- someone you know got his first moment in the spotlight -- but the main event of the annual James Beard Foundation Awards takes place tonight at Lincoln Center. Carol Blymire, the blogger best known for tackling the cookbook typically used to flatten flowers, will join me in covering the ceremony. We'll buttonhole chefs, report results, criticize wardrobe choices and generally do everything we can to turn one dead boring event into something entertaining. We will, of course, also let you know how D.C. area chefs fare in their categories, including Jose Andres (Outstanding Chef) and Peter Pastan, Johnny Monisand Cathal Armstrong (all nominated for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic).
