I was listening to local radio station WTOP during a segment about the 10th anniversary of the deadly sniper shootings in the greater Washington area and heard a teacher, unnamed, talk about the experience.
She said what she remembers about those awful days — when John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo killed 10 people and injured three in the District, Maryland and Virginia over a period of several weeks — was how she and her fellow teachers worked together to keep students safe.
When students arrived at school and had to be outside, she said teachers formed a kind of barrier to try to protect the students from the street in the event of an attack. The teacher said the adults were ready to take a bullet to protect the kids.
What kind of standardized test can measure that?
