Anderson Cooper is slated to host the 2011 Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards. The fashion industry’s annual award show, often dubbed the industry’s equivalent of the Oscars, will take place on June 6th at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in New York.
Cooper is a long-time friend of CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg. In a statement, von Furstenberg said, “Anderson Cooper’s involvement in this year’s gala will lend yet another exciting dimension to fashion’s biggest awards.”
The designers and journalists set to be honored include Marc Jacobs, Céline creative director Phoebe Philo, InStyle’s Hal Rubenstein, and The Telegraph’s Hilary Alexander.
Nominees include Alexander Wang, Joseph Altuzarra, Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernandez for Proenza Schouler, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Jason Wu, Phillip Lim, and Prabal Gurung.
Lady Gaga will be honored with Swarovski’s Fashion Icon Award and is confirmed to attend.
