Beastie Boys call for dismissal of Trouble Funk lawsuit

Back in May, we reported that a publishing company representing local go-go legends Trouble Funk had approached rap pioneers the Beastie Boys with a lawsuit that claimed the D.C. band’s songs “Drop the Bomb” and “Say What” were illegally sampled by the Beastie Boys for their songs “Hold It Now Hit It,” “The New Style,” “Car Thief,” and “Shadrach.”

The timing was horrible — Beastie Boys founding member Adam “MCA” Yauch passed away the day after the suit was filed.

Now, nearly seven months later, The Hollywood Reporter has news that the Beastie Boys are calling for the lawsuit to be dismissed.
