D.C. arts scene shaken up by quake

When the ground stopped shaking, local arts intsitutions Tweeted reassurances to their followers, and catalogued damage:

Updates on the Smithsonian, and an earthquake ticket deal, after the jump.

— The Signature Theatre is offering an earthquake ticket deal for two musicals, according to a press release:

“To commemorate the 5.9 scale earthquake that has VA/DC in a bit of an uproar today, Signature Theatre is offering $5.90 tickets for performances of The Hollow tonight and tomorrow night – and The Boy Detective Fails on Thursday night. Both world premiere musicals begin their preview performances tonight!

The $5.90 tickets are RUSH TICKETS and offered to the public 2 hours before showtime. “

— Elsewhere on Arts Post, Smithsonian secretary Wayne Clough reacts to the quake, and Jacqueline Trescott catalogues the damages to other museums.

— Also, the Rorschach Theatre, coincidentally, is beginning rehearsals for “After the Quake” tonight.
