By now everyone with a passion for brightly colored cardigans and pencil skirts knows Jenna Lyons is the mastermind behind the revitalization of J.Crew. The president/creative director has sufficiently sold the world on the idea that mass market has its place in fashion, as the Post’s Ned Martel noted after the company’s first appearance during fashion week in September. Her use of bold colors and quarky combinations somehow seem accessible to all women, and have become the new calling card of the brand.
But it became more glaringly obvious how intertwined Lyons’ personal style is with the company at J.Crew’s Fall 2012 presentation.
One model looked as if she could be a younger sibling of the creative director, complete with thick black rimmed glasses, slicked back pony tail and coral lipstick.
“She’s a lot cuter, a lot skinnier and a lot younger than me,” Lyons told Emily Smith of Page Six about the similarity.
Other models sported similar lip colors, along with sleek hair and Lyons’s signature mixtures of textures and patterns.
Lyons’ love for Manolo Blahnik has also led to a collaboration between the high-end shoe label and J.Crew.
During the presentation, models were outfitted in classic pointy-toed BB pumps, which will be available in a limited edition collection. Prices have yet to be released.
