Kennedy Center Honors 2011: Yo-Yo Ma

The Kennedy Center announced Wednesday that Yo-Yo Ma, one of the most accomplished and popular classical musicians of his generation, would receive a 2011 Honor.

In a statement David M. Rubenstein, the chairman of the center, said ”Yo-Yo Ma’s sterling musicianship makes him one of the most versatile and popular classical music performers in the world and his Silk Road Project has inspired students across the world to love and honor music.”

Here is an interesting video of Ma playing Bach’s Cello Suite --outdoors.
