Update May 8, 2012: Maurice Sendak died at the age of 83 in Danbury, Connecticut, the Associated Press reported. He painted a mischievous dreamscape in his books, fraught with tension and the “humongous heroism of children.” Read his obituary here and watch Sendak in his witty prime below.
