One of the songs Rev. Martin L. King requested from the legendary gospel singer Mahalia Jackson or the young daughter of the famous preacher, Rev. C.L. Franklin, was “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.”
Aretha Franklin, known as the Queen of Soul for her vocal power but also an accomplished pianist and a rousing gospel singer, said in recent weeks that she would sing King’s favorite at the dedication of his memorial. The official dedication has now been postponed.
