Christoph Niemann decided that running the 26.2 miles in the New York City Marathon would not be enough of a challenge. So he decided to draw the race as he ran in it on Sunday.
Niemann, artist and columnist for The New York Times’ Abstract Sunday blog, tweeted his drawings — which depicted his exhaustion, told stories of other runners and asked bystanders for bananas throughout the approximately six hours of his race time. He even had to start up a second Twitter account when he passed the limit of uploading images. Take a look at some of Niemann’s work below, along with a more complete timeline of his experience.
