Photo 11 exhibition opens at Artisphere

Photo 11, the annual regional juried photography exhibition, will open to the public on Thurs. July 28. 18 photographers will have their images showcased in this year’s show, at Artisphere in Arlington.

In its 20th year, Photo 11 serves as both as a forum for Washington-area residents to interact with regional photographers, and for the artists to display and retail their work.

Those interested initially responded to an open call, and were then able to upload up to five photos for their entry. From there, 85 photographers responded, which was whittled down to 32, then 18 finalists through an in-person appraisal.

There will be an opening reception Thursday at Artisphere in the Terrace Gallery, where juror Amanda Maddox will announce the two winners of the juror’s choice awards, of which $500 each will be given.

The exhibition will remain until Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011.

The reception is from 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Artisphere is located at 1101 Wilson Blvd., Arlington. For more information, visit artisphere.com.
