Rush, Public Enemy, Donna Summer among Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees

Disco gods, funk heroes, rappers, robots. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced 15 nominees for us to squabble over for the next few months.

This year's ballot might be Hall's most diverse yet. Next year's potential inductees include Rush, Donna Summer, Public Enemy, Procol Harum, N.W.A., Randy Newman, the Meters, Kraftwerk, Albert King, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, the Marvelettes, Heart, Chic, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Deep Purple.

But here's the rub: Don't all of these artists deserve to recognition? If next year's inductees fail to reflect the diversity — in genre and gender — captured in the ballot, does the Hall shoot itself in the foot?

Until then, fans will argue about who deserves to get in. Who would you like see inducted to the Hall? Vote in our poll below.
