‘Texts from Hillary’ blog depicts Clinton as phone addict

When Hillary Rodham Clinton checks her phone, she’s probably reading top-secret e-mails — but one blogger would prefer to imagine that she’s sending goofy texts instead. “Texts from Hillary” depicts Clinton’s text message exchanges with other government officials, and usually, she’s the one shooting them down with a dismissive barb.

The Tumblr meme, which has only a few entries at the point of this posting, uses an image of Clinton with a huge stack of work spread out before her, wearing sunglasses and staring disapprovingly at her phone.

One exchange shows President Obama, phone also in hand, as “texting” Clinton, “Hey Hil, Watchu doing?” “Running the world,” she replies, coldly. Another depicts Oprah texting her to give her a car. “No thanks, I ride in a G6,” the Clinton caption reads. She uses “LOL,” but she’s not the type to use an emoticon.

The meme reinforces much of our public opinion of Clinton — that she is no-nonsense, smart, but a little icy. It’s also a welcome arrival in a season that has seen few political memes since Rick Santorum’s sweater vest lost its magical powers.
