Navigating the National Mall this summer just got a little bit easier. The National Park Service and the Trust for the National Mall are making public their new wayfinding sign system with a public dedication, at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. The first sign, placed at the Smithsonian Metro station, measures 8 by 17 feet. It includes a full National Mall Directory map, complete with Smithsonian museums identified by name and directions on how to get to the Tidal Basin as well as other markers. This sign is the first of the $2.2. million effort, and over time almost 500 new markers will be placed across the Mall.
