MLB playoffs 2011: Tigers vs. Yankees ALDS Game 5 (updated)

Update, 1:30 a.m.: Follow the link to read Adam Kilgore’s account of the Detroit Tigers’ 3-2 win over the New York Yankees in the deciding Game 5 of their American League Division Series.

Also from Game 5, Thomas Boswell writes about Tigers Manager Jim Leyland’s steady hand vs. Yankees counterpart Joe Girardi in the series-clinching win.

Original post: The Yankees and Tigers meet in New York for Game 5 of their AL Division Series Thursday at 8:37 p.m.

Ivan Nova  is pitching for New York and Detroit is going with Doug Fister.

Adam Kilgore reports that while the Yankees will make CC Sabathia available out of the bullpen tonight, the Tigers will under no circumstances pitch Justin Verlander. But as Dave Sheinin wrote this morning, aces have not been pitching like aces anyway this postseason.
