World Series 2011: Texas Rangers at St. Louis Cardinals Game 6

Update, 3:15 a.m.: Dave Sheinin reports from a wild Game 6, when the Cardinals once again refused to fold. Thomas Boswell writes of the theatrics, “It’s possible that we just saw the most preposterous, fabulous, thrilling and all-around unbelievable World Series game of this generation.” See you Friday night for Game 7.

Original post: After Wednesday night’s weather-related postponement, Thursday night is the night the Texas Rangers could capture their first championship, when they play the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 6 of the World Series. Texas lead the Series three games to two.

Dave Sheinin points out that the extra day of rest also brought an extra day of scrutiny to St. Louis’s issues. Columnist Tracee Hamilton wonders what in the world is wrong with Cardinals Manager Tony La Russa. And columnist Thomas Boswell marvels at the sweet surprises this Series has delivered.

Tonight’s pitchers are Colby Lewis for the Rangers and Jaime Garcia for the Cardinals. The game is being televised on Fox, WTTG-Channel 5.
