A Facebook girlfriend can be yours, for just $5

Those despairing over the lack of a Facebook girlfriend (which everyone knows is far more real than the real thing), despair no more.

Cathy’s ad (Fiverr)
Fiverr.com, a Web site that allows people to hawk various services for just $5, has a new ad out that pretty much covers all of Facebook’s “in a relationship” bases. The ad, from seller cathy01:

“I'll be your girlfriend on Facebook for 10 days. I'm Cathy, a 23-year-old student and I live in New York city. There's a second option, by the way: If you want a few messages (3 max.) on your profile to make someone jealous that's also possible, just send me the message(s) and the facebook-link! byebye!x (I don't! do any promotional stuff!”

The idea by the entrepreneurial Cathy is not new. Startup company  Cloud Girlfriend, which launched last March, allows users to design their perfect girlfriend. Their virtual girlfriend will, like Cathy, even write on your Facebook wall to make it seem more authentic.

Cloud Girlfriend never really took off, which AOL News suggests may be because Facebook's Terms of Service agreement prohibits computer-controlled accounts.

But if Cathy really is a 23-year-old student in New York (and not a, I don’t know, dog), single men on Facebook, get out your Lincolns!

(Thanks, Mark Luckie!)
