The two do know how to push buttons.
On Monday. in a joint news conference in Caracas, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez joked about having an atomic bomb at their fingertips, Reuters reported.
“The hill will open and a big atomic bomb will come out,” Chavez quipped, referring to a grassy spot in front of his Miraflores palace steps, according to the Reuters story. “The imperialist spokesmen say. . . Ahmadinejad and I are going into the Miraflores basement now to set our sights on Washington and launch cannons and missiles. . .It’s laughable.” The two men chuckled.
“When we devils get together. . . it’s like they go crazy,” Chavez said.
Ahmadinejad’s visit comes on the heels of tougher sanctions imposed by the United States against Iran’s nuclear program, which Washington says is being used to develop atomic weapons. Chavez and Ahmadinejad, who are friends and allies, argue the program is peaceful.
