Andrea Mitchell announces breast cancer on air

Andrea Mitchell, NBC’s chief foreign affairs correspondent, announced on air Wednesday that she has breast cancer.

The host of “Andrea Mitchell Reports” said that during her annual exam, she had been diagnosed as “one of the one in eight women in this country with breast cancer.”

She quickly went on to say that her outlook was very good and that the disease can be completely cured if it’s detected early enough.
