Bangkok blasts: Iranian blows off own legs, injures four others

An Iranian man carrying explosives blew off his own legs in a busy Bangkok neighborhood Tuesday after an earlier blast shook his house, the Associated Press reports. Four others were wounded in the blasts. Police in Thailand have detained a second Iranian man suspected of being involved.

Last month, Israel issued a warning to its nationals traveling through Thailand. The country is a popular backpacking destination for Israelis.

Adam Van Wildest, an American living in Bangkok, just a mile from the blast, wrote about the shock he felt on YouTube and Twtter. “Seeing him lay there on the ground, and he tries to move his legs... and you see his pants got blown off,” he said. “I’m still in shock.”
