Bhutan’s Royal Wedding: the Dragon King weds

The small kingdom known for tracking happiness is at its happiest as Bhutan’s charming and popular monarch, known as the “Dragon King,” married his longtime girlfriend Wednesday, kicking off three days of celebration in the country.

The Post’s Simon Denyer is on the ground at the royal celebrations in Bhutan’s old capital of Punakha.

He sent in live updates as 31-year-old Oxford graduate Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck wed the lovely Jetsun Pema, 21, in a small, private ceremony inside an ancient monastic fortress.
